Getting his start for a local pattern shop, Stan did all the work in his basement. Soon the operation was moved to the garage for more room and ventilation. There were a grand total of two on the payroll – including Stan. Slowly but surely the business grew, and in 1998 Stan moved into what was roughly “a large shed.” By 2003 another move was necessary, as was the hiring of now-10-year-veteran Bill Marshall. The employee count had reached four.
Today, Leading Edge Aerospace has five buildings, a 50’ oven, a 21’ autoclave, a brand new 50’ Anderson CNC, two FARO® 3D laser trackers and four FARO® arms, and the most forward-thinking Research & Development team you’ll find in aerospace composite tooling. Stan Unruh named the company what he did for a reason. Never one to be complacent or satisfied, Stan and his team live to explore, create and innovate. It’s almost a prerequisite to work there – an endless drive to get better.
Management TeamThe members of Leading Edge Aerospace’s core Management Team all bring considerable aircraft industry manufacturing and operational experience.
Stan UnruhOwner / FounderStan’s the visionary, the “what if” guy in the room. Stan has over 20 years of experience in CNC machining operations and composite tooling. His early investment in, and successful implementation of, 3D laser tracking inspection and carbon graphic tooling are just two examples of Leading Edge doing just that.
